Woman-owned, family business
Chi Kitchen is a woman-owned, family business founded by Chef & Culinary Educator, Minnie Luong, who was born on a beautiful rice farm in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam. After moving to the United State, Minnie grew up in Massachusetts & Rhode Island with a food obsessed family.
hand-crafted goodness
Back when Minnie was growing up, there weren’t many Asian ingredients available in their local grocery stores, so her family grew and preserved their own foods, as a joyful way of spending quality time together and connecting with their culture. Over the years, this tradition led Minnie to become a culinary expert specializing in hand-crafted fermented kimchi.
Prepared with love
Minnie’s husband and Co-founder, Tim Greenwald, is originally from Pittsburgh where he grew up making pickles as a bonding experience with his grandfather. They met in Los Angeles where Minnie worked as Chef and Cooking Teacher while Tim helped small farmers grow their sales through technology.
In 2015 with their shared love of pickling & preserving foods, and entrepreneurship they quit their jobs and moved their family to Providence, Rhode Island to become part of its vibrant local food movement.
